Pipe relining
across Eastwood

A new pipe formed inside the old one, without opening the ground. On a property where the downstream capacity is not yours to change, it removes the part that is.

It removes the variable you can actually control

On a lot of properties around here the honest diagnosis is split in two. There is what the line on your block is doing, and there is what happens once the water leaves it.

The second part is not yours. Water crossing the suburb passes the rail corridor at a small number of culverts and pits, and when that is at capacity a property downstream of it will back up whatever condition its own pipe is in.

The first part is entirely yours, and it is worth putting beyond doubt. A relined section has no joints for roots to enter and no cracks for ground to wash into, so it stops being a candidate. Whatever happens after that is genuinely somebody else's system.

That is a different argument from the usual one for relining, and it is the one that fits this ground. It is not that a liner solves flooding. It is that it takes your own pipework out of the question permanently.

Relining in Eastwood

Digging is the expensive half

The pipe is a length of material. Getting to it, and putting back whatever was on top, is where an excavation quote goes.

On a block that sits low, that reinstatement is not a small line.

A liner has no joints

Roots do not break into sound pipe; they find an opening that is already leaking.

A continuous wall with no joints leaves nothing to find.

It will not fix what is downstream

If your line is sound and the constraint is the corridor, a liner changes nothing there, and anybody suggesting otherwise is overselling.

What it does is settle your own side so the remaining question is clear.

Postwar lines are the usual candidates

The orchards were subdivided from the late 1940s, so a great deal of the drainage here has had seventy years of ground movement and root pressure.

Earthenware with jointed sections is exactly what relining was developed for.

Collapsed is different from cracked

A pipe that still holds its shape takes a liner. One that has lost it may need a point repair first.

The camera answers that before anybody commits to a method.

What relining costs in Eastwood

Fixed price agreed before anything starts, off the footage rather than off a description. These are indicative 2026 ranges.

01

Camera inspection and report $250 – $450

Credited against the work if you proceed, and the footage is yours either way.

02

Junction or short section repair $800 – $2,000

Where one defect is doing all the damage and the rest of the run is sound.

03

Relined run $4,000 – $9,000

Priced by the metre, so length and access are what move the number.

04

Access pit where none exists $600 – $1,500

Occasionally needed, and quoted separately rather than folded in quietly.

05

Footage before and after included

Worth keeping with the house papers, because the next owner will ask.

How a relining job runs.

Step 01
Camera inspecting a drain before relining in Eastwood

Filmed and located

We find the defect, mark its position and depth, and show you rather than describe it.

Step 02
Preparing a drain for relining in Eastwood

Cleared and prepared

The line is cleaned back to the pipe wall, because a liner bonds to what is actually there.

Step 03
Installing a pipe liner in Eastwood

Lined and cured

The liner goes in through an existing access point and hardens in place into a continuous new wall.

Step 04
Handing over relining footage in Eastwood

Filmed again

So you can see the finished bore, and keep both sets of footage.

Been quoted to dig up the yard?

Ask for the footage first. On this ground it frequently changes the method and the number.

Pipe relining questions.

What Eastwood locals ask us before booking a plumber.

What is relining, in plain terms?

A new pipe is formed inside the old one. A resin-saturated liner goes in through an existing access point, is cured in place, and hardens into a continuous wall with no joints. The old pipe becomes the mould and the ground above it is never opened.

Why would I reline rather than dig?

Because the digging is nearly always the expensive part, not the pipe. On a block that sits low, opening the ground also means reinstating it, and that is the number that surprises people in an excavation quote.

Will it fix a drain that only backs up in heavy rain?

Not on its own, and we would rather say so. If your line is clear and the constraint is downstream, a liner changes nothing about that. What it does is remove any defect on your side, so the only thing left is the part nobody controls.

Does the pipe get narrower?

Slightly, because the liner has a wall thickness. In a properly sized domestic drain that is not a practical problem, and the smooth continuous bore usually flows better than the damaged pipe it replaced.

Can any pipe be relined?

Most that still hold their shape. A line that has collapsed or badly displaced may need a point repair first, and that is a question for the camera rather than a rule of thumb.

How long does it take?

Most domestic sections are done inside a day, and the drainage is back in use once the liner has cured. There is no trench to backfill and nothing to reinstate afterwards.

What does relining cost in Eastwood?

A camera inspection and report is $250 to $450. A junction or short section repair is $800 to $2,000. A full relined run is $4,000 to $9,000 depending on length and access, and the footage before and after is included in all of it.
